As part of the federal requirements for the Nonmotorized Transportation Pilot Program, each community is required to complete manual bicycle and pedestrian counts on an annual basis.  Every September, a staff member or volunteer is stationed at one of several intersections in the County for a two hour period in the morning or evening, during which they count and record bicycle and pedestrian activity for that area.

The results of these counts are aggregated with those of the other pilot communities and reported to Congress:
